this past weekend i traveled to west texas, in order to have an early x-mas with my grandparents. they live out in the country, in no man's land. the home, in which my great grandparents lived, and raised their children, is located about 100 yards behind my grandparents current house. both of my great grandparents are no longer with us, however, traces of the life they lived still remain at the old farm house. as a child i spent many days here; playing in the old barn, playing dominoes with my great grandma, mawnell, running in the fields with my cousins, climbing the trees, etc. i loved being there! it had been many many many years since i had revisited the old farm house. therefore, i really wanted to see what remembrances i could possibly stumble upon. it's always amazing to me just how much perspectives change as an adult vs. a child. they say, sometimes it's best not to revisit a place you loved as a child, because as an adult, you will be disappointed. anyways, i came across a few of my great grandpas old tools, and farm equipment, this is how they appear now. and yes, it is true, things are definitely much different than i had remembered as a little girl.
The Most Bizarre Christmas Tree You'll Ever See
Across the street from Winter's Pond, the owner, Edwin Winter, has a collection of various farm, railroad, and engine equipment. I had to take a picture of this....2 chainsaws and 2 lawnmowers hanging by hooks on huge chains. I'm going to have to go back and see it lit during the holidays!!
